Join us for the “Hike for Mike” on Saturday, April 6

Mike Saucier loved to hike, and loved living with Fernanda and Flora at the foot of Piestewa Peak. To this day those who knew him still feel his presence whenever they’re near the mountain, and Flora and Fernanda frequently hike it themselves.

That’s why we thought it would be natural for The Sauce Foundation to host the Hike for Mike, a new family-friendly event to raise funds and awareness for our mission and to honor Mike’s memory.

The Hike for Mike will take place on Saturday, April 6, with participants meeting at 7:30 a.m. at the cul de sac at the end of 24th Place, where the Saucier residence is located — an ideal place to start a Piestewa Peak hike.

The hike is free, but we’re asking participants to make a minimum contribution to The Sauce Foundation of $50 — those who do will receive a Sauce Foundation t-shirt. We’ll provide a healthy breakfast, coffee and juice before the hike, which will start at 8:15, and mimosas and beers once it’s done.

Hikers will have two options for participating — a lower trail which is more kid-friendly, or hiking all the way to the top of Piestewa Peak. The full hike takes approximately 2 1/2 hours round-trip.

All proceeds will go to the Foundation, and will help fund:

• The Mike Saucier Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Arizona State University Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication

• Research by TGen into finding a cure for pancreatic cancer.

You may RSVP to the hike by making a contribution through our DONATE page, or if you have any questions or would like to contribute another way, e-mail us at info@thesaucefoundation.org.
